I have stopped the website sending emails whenever a message is posted. If you want to receive notification then you could try using Entries RSS and Comments RSS which you will find in the Meta group in the right hand panel. Exactly how these work depends on the operating system/browser you use. On a Mac these will add links to the shared area of the bookmarks panel in Safari. Only posts made to the stanza categories will appear there.
If you feel an overwhelming need to email everyone about a message then, after you have saved/published it, choose the Email Users option at the top right of the page where you type the post (like I am about to do).
