Hi All,
Did anyone go to the Bailey Hill festival in Mold this year? I did and I ended up becoming a Friend of Bailey Hill! It’s a lovely outside space behind railings at the top of Mold High Street next to the cenotaph (the site of a Motte and Bailey Castle). I sat near the stone circle and listened to stories. The views across to Moel Famau are wonderful. I saw some exciting plans for the space and could easily imagine outdoor poetry performances there, or even inspirational workshops, lots of rich material for poems in the history and nature of the place. Anyway, please take a look at this link,
http://www.groundwork.org.uk/Sites/xmarks/appeals/Category/x-marks-projects
and scroll down to Bailey Hill to find out more about the plans for the site and whether you can help by becoming a friend or fundraising or making a small donation.
They have just two weeks to reach their target and every £1 donated earns £2 from Groundwork Trust. The group are more likely to get Heritage Lottery Funding too if there is community interest and commitments to the area.
Sorry to post this on our poetry web site but I just thought some people might be interested. Even if you’re not, it’s a good place to visit and be inspired.
Thanks, Sarah
Sounds lovely, Sarah. I don’t know Mold very well -must go and see this place. Any place suitable for poetry readings has to be good!!
