Beryl Baigent, a Welsh Canadian poet, who is a frequent visitor to North Wales, has written a series of poems that follow real families on their great adventure from the valleys of Wales to the new settlement in the wilds of Patagonia. Her interest and research, coupled with a visit to the settlement, has led to a record of their lives in 1860 Wales, the two month sea crossing and their arrival in their new home. They had left behind their country, friends and families, but were determined to preserve their language and their faith.
Beryl will be launching her latest book ‘Promises, Prayers & Patagonia’ at Shotton Community Centre, Plymouth Street, on Friday 12thth June, 2015 at 7.30pm
