Declensions

My window is not a shop window.
Your window is not a shop window.
He says stuff for sale is in our windows.

My oil-lamp is not for sale.
Your flowers are not for sale.
He says he’s not fooled and can spot window-dressing at thirty paces.

My oil-lamp is needed for power cuts and the fact
of its circle of light throwing empty chairs into shadow
is neither here nor there.

Your flowers cheer up you and your neighbours and the fact
you bought them yourself doesn’t mean
nobody cares.

He says, ‘Who’s buying in?’
