This is one of the Christmasy poems I wrote specially to read out at our meeting last night – the one I couldn’t find when the vital moment arrived!
I thought I might inflict it on you through Workshop, as it will be out of date once the festive season has passed…
Ring O’Bells
Along the lane
climb the stile
onto the footpath
across the fields.
Christmas Eve
as darkness falls,
the peal of bells
growing louder.
Follow the path
towards the village,
church bell tower
rising into view.
Pass the lychgate,
bells also ringing
down the street
on the swinging sign.
Ring-a-ding-dinging
all night long.
Not a bad idea
to take a taxi home.
Yes, very seasonal!
I ENJOYED READING THROUGH YOUR POEM, JONATHAN. HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU!
I REMEBER THAT YOU COULD NOT FIND YOUR POEM, JONATHAN. I THINK EVERYONE FOUND IT HUMOROUS! AT LEAST, YOU HAVE FOUND IT NOW, THOUGH!
Hope that it all came true for you and you had a merry Christmas.
