Monday March 3rd, Zest! at Alexander’s, Rufus Court,  Chester, 8pm.  Open floor, with guest poet Roy  McFarlane, former Poet Laureate of Birmingham. Roy says he ‘walks the earth giving voice to his poetry when and where he sees fit’.

Tuesday March 11th,  Gill McEvoy reading new poetry in an evening shared with poet and novelist Mandy Sutter who will be reading from her novel “Stretching it” . Chester Library, Northgate St.7pm,  £3.

Tuesday April 1st, Bald Statements,  a reading at Alsager United Reform church in response to artist  Jean Parker’s sculptures depicting the journey through grief. Readers Gill McEvoy, Andrew Rudd, Joy Winkler and Phil Williams. £5,  in aid of Macmillan Nurses and Ovacome.

Thursday April 10th, The Poem Shed present a reading jointly with poet Paul Henry. The theme is the sea, and Paul will be reading from his latest book The Brittle Sea. Quaker Meeting House, Frodsham St,  Chester, 7pm. £5.

 

ALso, not poetry but great for inspiration: Chester Cathedral have an exhibition of Tony Evans’ marvellous animal sculptures in bronze. He tries to ‘capture the moment of movement’. On now until the 9th March. Free.
