Things to get you through

SORRY – this is a cheat – it is already in one of my booklets but feedback is more than welcome – the idea of pairs made me think of socks –  don’t think any of you have seen it except for Robbie.  I’m not sure I really understood the two poems on the prompts but I’ll go back and have another go at them.  And we have made it to more than half way through (and not all of us have cheated!).

Today I sat in the bath and waited until the last drop of water ran down the plughole.
I sharpened every pencil and put them in a mug which was cracked.
After arranging socks into colours
I mixed them up again.
I
am left
with bubbles,
and pencil shavings,
and lots of socks I will never wear.

Perhaps
tomorrow
I will be ready
to write it all down.
Wearing a black sock
on one foot and a white sock
on the other I will wade
through the emptying
of the day and
go to bed
dirty.

you are blinding me with science again Martin – I have had a look for “Ars poetica” and it says it was a guidebook for poetry written by Horace in the 19th c????? I bet I am on totally the wrong track with this – help! (And I do hope I am pronouncing the term correctly – oops!)

Diana – thanks for commenting – ooh – I was trying to do it all in three’s – the socks, the pencils and the soap (and to be honest I do have a drawer full of socks that I will never wear – maybe it is time for a clear out) – thank you
