Thinking about Desert Island Poems has been a great opportunity to dip into books and re-read old favourites…
I do love The Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Berry.
Mainly because I know the peace of wild things
and for the line –
‘And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light..’
Also, I love so many of Billy Collins’ but right now…

And then there’s Seamus Heaney’s ‘The Skylight’ which I’ve posted on here before.
Looking forward to hearing more of your Desert Island Poems.
Sarah
Hi Sarah, I don’t know this poem -is it on the Poetry archive, or somewhere I could find it?
I’m going to search for it and thanks for the mention of it!
It was new to me too, I found it here: http://www.gratefulness.org/poetry/peace_of_wild_things.htm
on, appropriately enough, the ‘gratefulness.org’ website. It’s a lovely poem, one to read when one is overtaken by all kinds of moods. Thank you for posting about it, Sarah.
I love “The Peace of Wild Things” too. Wendell Berry a hero of mine.
